For short terms rentals, hirers would normally be expected to use the Motor Insurance provided by the rental company. However, in some circumstances there may be cause for the Hirer to provide their own insurance arrangements in advance of their arrival.
In such circumstance the customer will need to made arrangements to obtain a Cover Note from their Insured which provides the vehicle to be supplied with Comprehensive Insurance Cover for the duration of the hire period.
Such arrangement is known as “additional temporary cover”.
The following information will be required by your insured to effect the cover note:
- Registration Date
- Vehicle make
- Vehicle model
- Vehicle derivative
- Registration Number
- Estimated value
Ie: Sept 2015 Nissan Micra 1.2 Tekna registered as MAN-123-x. Value £12000
Full details of the vehicle to be hired can be obtained from the rental office at anytime.
The Cover Note obtained from your Insured should preferably be emailed to our Airport Office emailing: airport@athol.co.im in advance of your arrival and bring this document with you to present it to the Receptionist on arrival.
The insurance cover provided MUST be Comprehensive Cover and NOT Third Party Cover#. ONLY those people covered by your insurance policy will be able to operate the hired vehicle following their application to, and subsequent written approval by the rental company.
#Customers should note that a private individual’s Comprehensive Motor Insurance Policy, reduces to Third party when the policy holder operates a vehicle not owned by them. The policy holder may need to contact their insured in advance to request “additional temporary Cover” for the duration of hire.
